a trip to austin

June 5, 2012

Speaking of pleasant weekends, several weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit one of my brothers in Austin. We rarely get to see one another due to hectic schedules, so we went all out and booked a room at the Intercontinental Stephen F. Austin Hotel in Downtown Austin, to make the most of the weekend.  We both graduated from the University of Texas, so we visited some of our old haunts, and my brother also introduced me to some of the newest restaurant additions to the city…there were a lot. We did a lot of walking, a lot of eating, and a lot of catching up. It turned out to be such a relaxing getaway, it was so good to see my brother, and thanks to Contigo and East Side King, I left Austin with a newfound love for brussels sprouts.

Taking a stroll down memory lane. Hook ’em!/Buying artisan cheese at Whole Foods for a little midnight snacking./Franklin’s barbecue for lunch./The line says it all./Met up with the parents at Franklin’s. (Mom took the picture.)/Doesn’t get much better than this./Never say never… Fond memories of Katz’s fried pickles./A stop at Walton’s for a refreshing Dublin Dr. Pepper.

Loved seeing you and Joe in Austin. Wish we could have played a game of Monopoly Deal.
Also, I love all the Austin pics.

Yes! We will have to break out the Monopoly Deal the next time I’m home.
